The iconic Maasai Mara National Reserve covers an area of 1510 square km and is a land of breathtaking vistas, abundant wildlife and endless plains. Home to an excellent year-round concentration of game, including the more than two million wildebeest, zebras and other antelopes that make up the famous Great Migration between June and October. With abundant elephant, buffalo, giraffe, leopard, lion and cheetah alongside the migratory wildebeest and zebra plus large rafts of hippo and enormous crocodiles, it’s no wonder that safaris here are hard to beat.

Laikipia sprawls on the edge of the Northern Kenyan Frontier, stretching from the slopes of Mount Kenya to the rim of the Great Rift Valley. A natural haven made up of ranches and conservancies, a place for communities and wildlife to exist hand-in-hand to maintain and protect. Steeped in history from the colonial days in Kenya, this is a significant natural area from a safari and conservation perspective and includes community and adventure activities such as horseback riding, camel and walking safaris.

Amboseli National Park, about a four-hour southeast of Nairobi, is synonymous with majestic herds of elephant and glorious views of Mount Kilimanjaro in neighbouring Tanzania. Kenya’s second most popular national park after the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Amboseli was declared a UNESCO-MAB Biosphere Reserve in 1991.

Tsavo National Park is an enormous wilderness area that has been divided into Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks. Combined, it is Kenya’s biggest park and one of the world’s largest game sanctuaries. One of the less populated game areas in Kenya, it is perfect for those who want to enjoy a pristine wildlife experience and well placed to combine with a stay on the coast.

The Indian Ocean coast, protected by an offshore barrier reef, is famous for its spectacular beaches, tropical waters and array of water sports, offering the perfect end to a safari. The area has plenty of history also, such as Fort Jesus in Mombasa, built by the Portuguese in 1596 to protect the port, it is one of the most outstanding and well-preserved examples of 16th Century Portuguese military fortification and a landmark in the history of this type of construction.
