2 Nights / 3 Days

TRIP HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Desert Camp
  • Desert Safari

Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Zagora (360 km) Departure to Ait Benhaddou through Tizi N’tichka pass (2260m of altitude). Visit of the famous kasbah that has served as decor for many great movies. The Kasbah is a UNESCO World Heritage site.  Lunch (optional) at a local restaurant facing the Kasbah & continuation to Zagora via the little village of Agdz. On your way you will enjoy the unique sightseeing of the most attractive road in the south of Morocco, you will discover a greenish area of palm groves lining the path to announce the start of a Saharian Oasis where a patchwork of domestic vegetation displays itself through a terraced culture of cereals, vegetables, fruit trees, dates, henna, watered by the Draa River. Arrival to Zagora, commonly called “gate of the desert”, is a good stopover for people who wish to pursue their trip down south. In the 14th century, the Saadians, descendants of the prophet and originating from Arabia, set out to conquer the Sahara, and Zagora was their starting point. They managed to extend their authority ’til Tombouctou. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 2: Zagora – Chegaga dunes (140 km) – Bivouac Departure on 4×4 to Tamgroute village, known in the 11th century as one of the most important Koranic libraries in Africa, and visit the Historical library and the pottery centre. Then to M’hamid Ghizlane, it’s about 80 by tarred road to reach M’hamid village. Lunch is optional in a local restaurant. Continuation to Chegaga where you can enjoy and discover the Erg Chegaga dunes and the Hamada of Draa, you will meet nomads and if you are lucky enough, you will have the chance to see a passing camel caravans on your scenic during your off-road “light trekking” to the dunes, amazing experience to not miss. Dinner & overnight in Berber tents in the bivouac.

Day 3: Chegaga Dunes – Zagora – Marrakech ( 470 km) Breakfast at the camp, and early departure to Zagora then to Marrakech, Lunch (optional) at a local restaurant in Ouarzazate. Arrive at Marrakech city.
