Day 1: Arrive in Ho Chi Minh where you are met and transferred to your hotel for check-in. Today is free at your leisure to rest or explore, discovering your own first impressions of Vietnam depending on arrival time.
Day 2: Head south to the river town of Cai Be, a rural district of Tien Giang province in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. Arriving at around 10:00 AM, board a moto boat to journey through Cai Be floating market. Here, experience how life functions on the delta, as you view the intricacies of commerce and view how merchants purchase products from local farmers. Stop at some local workshops to see rice products being made, coconut candies and products from coconut trees; Enjoy a sampan ride and pedal down narrow natural waterways, stopping at a local home to try seasonal fruits such as longan, pineapple, watermelon, and papaya. Continue back on board for a long cruise through Dong Phu , Hoa Ninh island to An Binh island where you have lunch, served with many Vietnamese’s delicious dishes.
Time to relax, then continue to Vinh Long and onwards through small waterways to Long Ho. Visit a palm leaf workshop, Cai Ngang Village with its many rice mills along the river, before transferring to Can Tho for a memorable night in Can Tho eco-lodge.
Day 3: An early start today for a boat trip to Cai Rang floating market, the largest wholesale market in the Mekong Delta. Then a long distance cruise to Phong Dien in winding natural waterways. There is the chance to stop in between for walks on a quiet country road to take in the magnificent scenery, see several kinds of fruit trees and get close to the locals as they go about their daily routine. After lunch in the centre of Can Tho, travel to the small town of SaDec to visit an old famous house of Marguerite Duras and walk around the nursery flower gardens of Tan Qui Dong commune. Then cross the Mekong again to My Hiep, and travel through the immense rice delta of DongThap province. Learn about rice industry and traditional way of planting rice, then at Long An town, head by road approx. 1 hour back to Ho Chi Minh.
Day 4-6: After breakfast at your hotel transfer to Tan Son Nhat airport for the flight to Con Dao, the stunning beach resort, your home for the next 3 nights for some relaxation and sea air, staying at the Poulo Condo Boutique Resort & Spa.
Day 7: Depending on your flight time this morning you can visit the Arts & Ethnology Centre and take a stroll through the Morning Market before transferring to the airport for departure.
