DAY 1: Arrival in Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International airport where you will be met and transferred by private car to your hotel in Tbilisi. The rest of the day and evening is at leisure.
DAY 2: Meet your guide and driver in the lobby your Tbilisi city exploration during which you will visit: Metekhi Virgin Mary Assumption Church; Europe Park and Peace Bridge; the cable car to Narikala Fortress; the Sulfur bathhouses. Walkthrough the Old town narrow streets, view Sioni Cathedral, Gabriadze Theatre, and clock tower, the Freedom Square and Rustaveli Avenue.
Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3: A day in the mountains of Georgia today, including the UNESCO world heritage sights of the Jvari monastery and the Svetitskhoveli cathedral. Visit the 17th-century Ananuri Fortress and take in the stunning views at Zhinvali Reservoir. Head up to Gergeti Holy Trinity church and embrace the Caucasus Mountains. During the day, enjoy an authentic mountainous lunch at a family-run restaurant including the traditional dish “Khinkali”, before arriving in Gudauri for dinner and overnight.
DAY 4: Visit the ancient cave city of Uplistsikhe today. Meaning ‘Fortress of the Lord’, it is an ancient rock-hewn town that has played a significant role in Georgian history over 3,000 years. As one of the oldest urban settlements in Georgia, this ancient cave city could be traced from the late Bronze Age all the way up to the late Middle Ages and was strategically located in the heartland of pre-Christian Kartli Kingdom. It emerged as a major political, religious and cultural center of the country until it was ravaged by the Mongols in the 13th century.
Return to Tbilisi where the rest of the day and evening is at leisure.
DAY 5: Discover the Kakheti region today with your guide, including Ikalto Monastery and Academy, a mixture of religious and educational complexes as well as housing a smithery and kvevris (clay pots). Visit Alaverdi Cathedral – a glorious masterpiece from the 11th century with the Caucasus Mountain backdrop. Explore the tiny and beautiful city of Telavi, which used to be the administrative center of the region.
DAY 6: Begin today with a discovery of Nekresi monastery, one of the oldest complexes in Kvareli, situated at the slopes of the mountain and with an amazing view on the Alazani Valley. Continue to Sighnaghi – a tiny city of narrow and cobbled stone streets decorated with colorful wooden balconies and defended by a 4km long wall which used to be the central trading central place for surrounding villages. Finally visit the Bodbe Nunnery, one of the strongest most active and largest convents in Georgia, and the place where St. Nino – Enlightener of Georgia – is buried. Overnight in Tbilisi.
DAY 7: Day at leisure.
DAY 8: Departure from Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International airport.
